Week 12 – Remember When Those Volunteers Helped You Train For Boston…

Here’s your chance to return the favor!!! This Sunday is the SLR from Hopkinton to Boston. So far we have 8 cars heading to the starting line that can hold 26 runners and counting. One car needs to return early, another one is coming from west of Hopkinton, and I need seats for 27 so far. I need at least 1 more driver, maybe 2. Let me know if you can help.

Below is the initial tally of runners, I’ll be adding columns for lunch and gu count later. Some have expressed interest, but you don’t count unless you respond on this blog. Let me know if I missed you!

  1. Jeanne Boisseau says:

I was planning to ride with Liz and keep her company for the half. I could drive, but also have to get back early.

  2. Jeff Rushton says:

Hi Jim…I am in for the full 22…no gu’s needed and no lunch. thank you!

  3. Matt Sazama says:

Hi Jim, if anyone wants to leave a car or cars in Hopkinton, I can drive them back there once they’ve finished at BC.

  4. Jim Carson says:

If I don’t get another volunteer, maybe we’ll have both Jeanne and Liz drive to the start, Matt can meet us along the route and drive them back from the halfway point. Matt could then drive to finish up water stop help and give the people that came out with Liz and Jeanne a ride home? I need to do a little more mental math, but this would really be easier if one more person could volunteer on Sunday.

  5. Matt Sazama says:

One other option is I could try to rent a mini van & use that to bring more people out & back to Melrose. Biggest issues are availability & cost. Looks like I can get one thru Enterprise in Leominster, but total cost is around $230.

  6. Hello,

Thanks for all of your work putting this together.

What time are we meeting to head out there?

  7. Jim says:

There will be another post tomorrow with more information, but we’ll be meeting about 6:45am in the parking lot, planning to leave Melrose at 7am, arriving in Hopkinton at 8.

  8. Jessica Crispin says:

Hi Jim. I can drive a group to the start. I can fit 4 in my car. Just would need to figure out how to get back to my car after I run.

  9. Matt Sazama says:

Jessica, I can take you back to Hopkinton if needed.

  10. Liz says:

Liz is out.. too much to do will run around melrose. Hope to join in one day …

  11. Amanda says:

I can’t thank you all enough for putting in your time and organizing everything…it’s beyond appreciated!! If theres trouble fitting everyone I can stay back…and I can also drive to Hopkinton!
